SO WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF A BALANCED DIET?

CARBOHYDRATES

Carbs are an excellent source of energy, This where most of your energy comes from throughout the day if you are engaged in activity. A few ideas of carb rich foods are things like

VITAMINS

There are lots of essential vitamins, and most people don’t know which they should be having, but the key is to pay attention to the intake of the following vitamins..

Vitamin D

Taking a multivitamin is ok and better than nothing, but remember that obtaining them from fruits and veg is even better.

MINERALS

Minerals help with the release of energy from food. Iron helps with energy, while calcium works towards healthy bones and teeth. There are lots of minerals today, but the most important ones are

UNSAURATED FATS

Most people avoid fats completley thinking that they are going to gain more weight, but this is not the case. Healthy fats are needed as in those from dairy products, meat, fish. Their main functions are helping to regulate body temperature and the absortion of vitamains. They help with the slow release of energy.

PROTEIN

Protein mainly comes from meat, but recommendations suggest that you get it mostly from lean meats. Protein helps with the development of hair, skin and muscle.

FIBRE

Fibre helps you fill you up and helps with digestion. Its primarily concerned with kepping your cholesterol levels in check.

WATER

The best thing for our bodies is water. It hydrates the body. The suggested intake is at least 8 glasses per day.
